If you believe your engine or transmission has a defect covered under warranty, follow these steps exactly. The order matters — performing warranty work before getting authorization will disqualify your claim.
STEP-BY-STEP WARRANTY CLAIM PROCESS
Step 1: Stop driving the vehicle immediately. As soon as you identify a potential issue, stop driving. Continuing to operate the vehicle can cause further damage that will not be covered under warranty.
Step 2: Take the vehicle to a Licensed Automotive Repair Facility (LARF). Do not attempt any repairs yourself. The vehicle must be evaluated and repaired by a licensed shop with certified technicians. DIY repairs void your warranty.
Step 3: Call us BEFORE any warranty work is performed. This is the most important step. All warranty claims must be pre-authorized. Call 1-844-XPARTS-1, Monday–Friday 9am–7pm EST or Saturday 11am–4pm EST. Do not allow any repair work to begin until we have reviewed and approved your claim.
Step 4: Have an ASE-certified diagnostic report prepared. Your shop must prepare a diagnostic report that includes: • Date of the inspection • VIN number • Current mileage • Diagnostic trouble codes • Description of the identified problem • Projected repair cost
Step 5: Submit all required documentation within 5 business days. For used engine and used transmission claims, all documents must be submitted within 5 business days of initiating the claim. No exceptions.
Step 6: Our warranty team reviews and coordinates the repair or replacement. Once we receive your documentation, our team will review, authorize, and coordinate the next steps — whether that's a repair, replacement, or reimbursement.
IMPORTANT REMINDER
Warranty work performed without prior authorization will not be reimbursed. Please call us first.
